Appendix B: Survey questions

We are a group of Secondary Two students from Raffles Institution. We are currently doing a Research Education project on the ways of encoding and decoding messages, the different types of codes, the usage of codes in the past, present and predictable future, and the awareness of the public of codes and cryptography in their lives. Cryptography is the study of encoding (encrypting) messages and decoding (decrypting) messages, so that only the authorised person to obtain the true message. On the other hand, coding is a wider term which cryptography is under. It is the process of replacing words or phrases by letters or numbers, so that human language is understood by machines.

We would like to collect public opinions on the topic we are researching on, and as such, we created this survey. We will greatly appreciate it if you can complete this survey. You will be a great help to us. Thank you.

Note: If you are doing a soft copy version of this survey, just click to check the boxes or type in the boxes for open ended questions. Then save it after doing and send it to research.education 2005@gmail.com .
